    The answer is "denial".

    There are five stages in Kübler-Ross's theory. Denial refers to the first of the five stages, it encourages us to survive the misfortune. In this stage, the world have no meaning for us. But if you become strong, the denial is going to be weaker and fade. And as you continue, every one of the sentiments you were denying start to surface.
