    Explanation:

    The concept of social referencing is including the process between infants and their understanding of situations and this kind of concept infants are using between the age of eight, ten months or one year. Because of social referencing infants are learning about the world around them. The key to understanding is a display of adults (usually parents) and because of that they are regulating their behavior and responding to those situations.

    In this case, Mark is in a room with his father and his father's behavior will affect his reaction. If his father acts negatively, an infant will have negative facial expressions such as crying or worrying and if the father's reaction is positive, Mark will ignore it or maybe laugh at it.
