    The Bolshevik Revolution changed a lot in Russia and the Soviet Union as a whole. One of things that was heavily affected was the religion. The country become communist, and the communism was not fond of the religion at all.

    The Orthodox Church, as well as the other religions such as the Catholicism, Protestantism, Lutheranism, Islam, Shamanistic religions, Buddhism, all suffered a big blow. The communist authorities saw the religion as a threat to their power, so in order to eliminate that threat they were very harsh toward the religions and their practices, putting them in a very bad situation in the society, subjugated as much as possible.
