    Identity versus confusion is the 5th phase of personality as indicated by Erik Erikson's hypothesis of psychosocial development. This stage happens amid youthfulness between the periods of around 12 and 18. Amid this stage, teenagers investigate their freedom and build up a feeling of self. Adolescents pass by the psychosocial crisis of identity versus role confusion in this stage.
