What is marbling and when does it occur in the decomposition process?

    Marbling is a stage in decomposition that happens because the subcutaneous blood vessel patterns become visible as the body decomposes. It is caused because bacteria in the decomposing body create hydrogen sulfide which mixes with hemoglobin.
