Why doesn't a solar or lunar eclipse happen every month?

The phases of the moon take one year to complete their cycles, so eclipses happen only once a year.

The moon's orbit is slightly tilted with respect to Earth, thereby preventing eclipses.

The moon's orbit takes longer than a month to complete its journey around Earth.

The lighted side of the moon is only apparent a few times a year.

They do not happen every month because the Earth's orbit around the sun is not in the same plane as the Moon's orbit around the Earth.
