Jasmine has played basketball since she was six years old. Each winter, she starts practicing for her local team. This year, she has decided to take a job at a supermarket. Jasmine is not able to do both activities, because her shift at the supermarket would begin before the team's practices would end. Based on what you have read, if Jasmine works at the supermarket, what is her opportunity cost? Jasmine's opportunity cost: "missing out on playing basketball".

As Jasmine has chosen to work in the supermarket, this should be the option that provides a higher benefit to her.

The opportunity cost is referred to the benefits you are missing out, related to the main alternative you have rejected in order to make your choice. In Jasmine's case this is represented by missing out the time she would have dedicated to basketball if she was not working in that supermarket.
