How did government efforts lead to restrictions on civil liberties

    The answer is: In World War I, Civil liberties were totally restricted on the grounds that the united states congress passed the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Sedition Act of 1918. There was a lot of criticism for this kind of laws given by the government.
