It discouraged Alliances with supportive and sympathetic whites

    Explanation:

The Black power movement was all about achieving self determination for people of African American decent, it was all about blacks defending themselves against racial segregation, building their own political and Economic institutions and also having a self sufficient economy as well. and this clashed with the values of the civil rights movement which was about fighting for the civil right of everyone.

The black power apparently supported racial segregation from people of other race and this discouraged Alliances with supportive and sympathetic whites because the black power movement constituted that the black race was superior
