The Scientific Revolution refers to a period when developments in mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology and chemistry transformed views of society and nature. It unfolded in Europe between roughly 1550.-1700., beginning with Nicholas Copernicus, who asserted a heliocentric (Sun-centered) cosmos, and ending with Isaac Newton, who proposed universal laws and a Mechanical Universe.
