    A. South Carolina (U. S. A) 1886

    Explanation:

The South Carolina earthquake, or rather the Charleston earthquake of 1886 was an earthquake that occurred on a place where there has been little to no earthquake activity recorded. This part of the United States is far away from any plate boundaries, with the closest boundaries being at the mid-ocean ridge in the Atlantic, and along the coastline of California, thus both of them thousands of kilometers away. This earthquake was one of the strongest in the eastern coast of the United States, having an estimated moment magnitude of 6.9-7.3. 50 people had lost their lives because of this earthquake, and over 200 buildings were heavily damaged, with the damage estimated to be between 5 and 6 million dollars.
