The longest ruling dynasty in China was the Zhou who first used the celestial mandate to justify their dominion. Much of the land was ruled by feudal lords who were relatives of the Zhou family. They did a territorial expansion to make a centralized administration. It is characterized by the construction of city-palace. The territory was divided into dozens of rival kingdoms with periods of stormy wars.

At this time the Chinese writing emerged.

It was Qin who defeated the rival states that existed and unified China. This led to the emergence of a new dynasty called the Qin dynasty. This was the beginning of the Chinese empire. Although this was a short dynasty, much was achieved, including the construction of the Great Wall. In economic, standards for weights, measures and money were established, many roads and canals were built, and only one type of writing began to be used throughout the country. All these advances would be used in future dynasties to strengthen China. In order to strengthen the unity of the nation and maintain the dynasty, it also carried out many reforms in politics, economics, military issues, and culture.
