    Many Chinese considered Europeans as their enemies when the poster was made.

    Explanation:

    Before the occurrence of the industrial revolution the divergence happened between Europe and China that started in the year 1750. Europe had free market as well as state intervention and the markets in Europe were efficient but in the other hand in China it did not have efficient market, as a result the great divergence occurred. Technological advancement took place in Europe but in case of China no technological advancement occurred.
