Compare the positions of a conservative and a liberal in the nineteenth century on the nature of political authority and political change. What would each ideology say about abolition of slavery? What about women's rights?

    A conservative would perhaps want for slavery to stay alive and for slaves to persist as a social class while a liberal wouldn't want for slavery to persist and would fight for the rights of slaves to become free as they rightly should be. In a similar way, they would talk about women's rights - a liberal would be for them and a conservative against them.
