The american first energy plan (president trump) has freeing us from foreign oil as an important goal. where does our current crude oil imports come from (leading country?) we currently import ~25% (much lower than during the oil crisis of the 1970's).

    Currently about 40% of US crude oil comes from the US.

    The US is able to provide much of their own oil needs. The next leading contributor to the US for oil is Canada with Saudi Arabia and Mexico behind them. The US has reduced their need for oil since the 1970s with many regions using coal, natural gas, solar, or wind energy.
