    d. presenting the alternative question

    Explanation:

The alternative question is employed during the interrogation of a suspect. When employing this tactic, the interrogator presents two versions of what happened in the crime, usually in the form of a question, to the suspect. One aspect of the question is positive while the other aspect is negative. If the suspects admits to any versions of the questions, he would have implicated himself.

The victim mentality of the suspect who is guilty would easily lead to his admitting to the positive question. An innocent suspect would more easily reject both versions.
