He got 5 quarters and 1 dime back

    Work: (5x0.25) + 0.10

Ok, so we can trial and error

we got quarters, nickles, dimes, pennies,

let's try to max out each one

if we got 5 quarters, then we would have 1 coin left to be a dime to get 1.35

    wow, I just guessed

ok, so if we got 4 quarters, then we need 35 cents more with 2 coins, we can't do that because max we can do is 20 cents (2 dimes)

if we got 3 quarers, then we need 60 cents with 3 coins, also impossible since the max we can get with remaining coins is 30 cents (3 dimes)

if we got 2 then we need even more

answer is 5 quarters and 1 dime
