Find the average rate of change of the function ... f (x) = 2 x ^2 + 2 x - 4, on the interval x ∈ [-1,4].

    just plugin the x values into the equation to find f (x). Then use slope to find average rate of change

    (36 + 4) / (4+1) = 8
