Marcus needs to cut a 5 yard length of yarn into equal pieces for his art project. write an equation that models the length l in yards of each piece of yarn if marcus cuts it into p pieces.

    The length of each of the piece cut from the yarn is equal to the quotient between the total length and the number of pieces asked. If we let l be the length of yarn in yards and p is the number of pieces, the answer would then be,

    l = 5/p
