the school is hosting a pet show. there are a total of 110 dogs, cats, and hampsters in the show. if there are twice as many dogs ad cats, and ten fewer hamosteres than cats, how many cats ate in the show?

    Let the number of cats be x cats.

    Then number of dogs = 2x and number of hamsters = x - 10 and we can make the equation:-

    2x + x + x - 10 = 110 Solve for x:-

    4x - 10 = 110

    4x = 120

    x = 120/4

    x = 30 cats (answer)
