The protons, neutrons and electrons in an atom, also called as the "baryonic matter" is what astrophysicists think that the universe is made of. The idea of the structure of the atom has changed over time from Daltons model, to Rutherford's, and Neils Bohr's planetary model, and finally to the quantum model of an atom.
