    2CuO (s) + C (s) - -> 2Cu (s) + CO2 (g)

    ΔH = ΣΔHf (products) - ΣΔHf (reactants)

    ΔH = - 393.5kJ - 2 (-155.2kJ) = - 83.1 kJ

    The reaction is exothermic.
