To discourage people from breaking laws against speeding, society can increase the probability that someone exceeding the speed limit will be caught and punished, or it can increase the size of the fine for speeding. Explain why either method can be used to discourage speeding. Which approach is a government likely to prefer, and why? Either increasing the probability that someone speeding will be caught or increasing the size of the fine for speeding can discourage speeding because both ▼ decrease increase the expected cost of speeding.

    society can increase the probability that someone exceeding the speed limit will be caught and punished - people run away from punishment, human naturally do not like to be humiliated or insulted hence, an approach to speed limit using this method with be effective.

    it can increase the size of the fine for speeding - Increase in fine will be appreciated by the government as it result in another Way of generating funds, most people do not like to give back their earnings to the society hence, the method will be effective and default will take heed to avoid been overcharged and forced to pay huge some of money.
