Cuba mainly relies on sugar as its main export and it is also one of the world’s leading producers of sugarcane. However, many other Latin American countries like Brazil also produce sugarcane and compete in the global market. If by any chance a natural disaster would come, it could cause disruption in the economy of Cuba. A drop in sugar prices or in its production would have startling effects. Moreover, more and more people are becoming health conscious so sugar consumption is expected to drop in the coming years.
