How is a civil case different from a criminal case?

    Civil cases are cases that usually involve the plaintiff pursuing legal action against the defendant for an unethical breach of contract. A good example is a mother taking her child's father to court because he fails to pay child support. Criminals cases are usually filed by the government against the defendant for committing a criminal act.
