The storming of the Bastille in 1789 was an important event that changed the face of France’s political landscape. Fed up with the abuses of the monarchy and poor conditions in which they live in, the people rose up against the French Monarchy and the start of the French Revolution. During this time, the National Assembly had made many changes. Two of which was the creation of the Declaration of the Rights of Man which provided sovereignty to the people, equality before the law, freedom of religion, freedom of speech and the press and the right of the people to life and liberty. It also drafted the French Constitution of 1791 which limited the power of the monarchy.
