One of the priorities of the political communication strategists before undertaking an electoral process is the study and thorough knowledge of the electoral scenario in which the campaign and voting will take place. Its detailed knowledge will depend both on the measures to be taken to benefit a party or candidate, and the possible solutions to the problems that arose during the development of the campaign.

There is no single electoral scenario, since there are many critical variables that can influence its transformation. Therefore, candidates must know what these variables are and try to predict their behavior in order to obtain the best possible result.

Political parties "act on the electoral stage and compete for votes with other parties" (Panebianco, 1990) [1]. The definition of an electoral scenario is determined based on the attitude and behavior of the electorate and what are the circumstances that will motivate their participation in the electoral process. Thus, we can talk about scenarios in which central issues that move the citizen can range from corruption to the economy, through unemployment, violence and the welfare state and each of these issues will cause a different strategy to be adopted by of the candidates. The important thing, therefore, is to describe the possible alternative scenarios to program the appropriate strategy, giving fair weight to the variables that come into play in the electoral contest.

The electoral scenario has been defined as "a set of factors associated with a political situation. These factors may be environmental factors or political actors. Environmental factors can be: structural in nature, such as a cleavage or social breakdown; functional type, as electoral norms; or of a cyclical nature, such as those of an economic nature. For their part, political actors can be individual or collective. In any case, defining an electoral scenario is contextualizing political actors within environmental factors " (M. Gómez-Lince, 2013: 88) [2]. The electoral scenario is the context in which the elections take place, the situations that these generate - before, during and after - the contest, the scene in which the political subjects move and the space in which the information and the Knowledge of electoral behavior is essential to develop a correct strategy.

The electoral scenario through the interrelation of its actors (political parties, candidates and the voters themselves) is a search for answers to questions such as what is at stake in the election from the perspective of citizenship, which are the issues capable of mobilizing public opinion, what problem and demands of the electorates define the electoral behavior and what are the strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats of the different candidates.
